Weekly Photo Challenge: Broken

I finally made it back to the weekly photo challenge, which is put on by the great guys at the wordpress daily challenge blog. You can check all the particulars out here. While you’re at it, be sure to take a peek at other participants blogs!
I had a hard time picking a photo for this theme because broken items happen to be one of my favorite subjects, so you’re getting a couple. Oh joy.

My photo….

is on Oprah.com. Yeah, seriously. Check out the blog on Oprah.com – heck, here’s a link:
Okay, so it’s not my books, but heck, this is a step in the right direction, right?
Just thought that was so cool!
Now I am going to bed because my eyes are peeled grapes.

Cemetery in Jefferson, Iowa

I didn’t end up with much, but the mausoleum makes up for it!
Yeeeeaaaah! I want a tomb like that! 😀

New Photos: Thunderstorm

I should update my website instead of scheduling blog posts. Alas, I love blogging too much! I read an article recently about eliminating time drainers that do not “forward your goals” – aka the book covers or the books, I guess – and according to it things like this blog should be eliminated to save time. They’re probably right; I could do useful stuff instead of post here. But I get the enjoyment from it, so that’s worth it to me. It can’t be all work 24/7!
Anyway, there was an awesome storm that produced some pretty good photos. It took awhile to get the focus and such right, so I didn’t get as many as I would have liked, but no need to be greedy.

Makes me think of My Little Pony. I don’t know why. I bet a psychiatrist would have fun with my weird associations.
And no, I did not adjust the color/levels/curves/etc on these. They came out purple like that and I left it because it was an awesome shade.

Eight Photos of the Same Sunrise

I was just going to post a couple, but I couldn’t pick which ones I liked best, so what the heck. You can scroll past them fast if you want to.
I also learned a valuable lesson. The reason they say NOT to point you camera at the sun is not because it does anything to the camera – it blinds YOU. It was several minutes before I could see again after taking these. They came out awesome, though, so worth it!

TTTC – Chapter 7: Page 5

What is the TTTC? It’s a webcomic written by Jonathan Harvey and illustrated by me. we add a page every week, so be on the lookout. Why not visit http://TerribleTurtles.com and subscribe?
Astute people might have noticed there was no turtles last week. It’s not that you missed something; there really wasn’t one. Why? Well, the story involves ninjas, zombie clowns, an ice penguin and a chainsaw. As you can guess it’s really long and involved, so rather than bore anyone, let’s get straight to this week’s page!
Click the image above for full sized turtley goodness.
And watch out for zombie clowns!
New Photos: Moth & Bugs – A WTF is this edition

There is a really gross bug in here. You’ve been warned.

okay, now WTF is THIS thing?!?!?!?! – gross fact: I actually TOUCHED it when I came out my door (yes, this is my front door). UGH!!!
Ewwww. And after that gross bug I am psychologically damaged, so I will save the sunrise photos until tomorrow.

New Photos: Ducky Pond

These are from June at Dunnigan Park (again). Yeah, I like the ducky pond 😉

This is the snowflake REALLY lit up. You might remember I tried to manip a daylight picture of this with this result – http://www.flickr.com/photos/pandora_6666/5660975700/
There’s more on my Flickr, as usual. i think if I posted them all on here people would revolt. There would be riots. Okay, there would be a tiny, five person revolt. But hey, you’d be surprised what five people can do!

New Photos: Toadstools

I found these at about six am one morning. Because the new camera doesn’t use the Screen to shoot with (It has a “live mode” but the pic quality suffers) I had to lay in the grass for these. I ended up with chiggers, two ticks and a lot of random bug bites. Hopefully it was worth the itching.
There are a few more toadstool photos, but how many do you want to look at?

The first shot at the wraparound

I managed to squish some time in today to work on the rough draft of my wraparound. If you’d like to read the blurb and/or leave some feedback on it, you can do that on my author blog. You’ll notice there’s a big black box that’s empty. I decided to go out on a limb this time and solicit some blurbs before it was published. Okay, I got lucky and a couple of people offered. Who am I kidding? Ruth Ann Nordin was ind enough to let me use a blurb from her review of Shades of Gray on the last book, and then I used a quote from Daniel Kennedy. He just has a very “weighty” sounding name – like he;s someone important. Or is that just me? I thought about hitting Jonathan up for one, but 1) he hasn’t finished the second book yet, so book 3 isn’t going to happen for awhile and 2) I thought it might conflict with his genre a little. Some people might frown on a devotional written by a guy who’s being quoted all over vampire books. Though if they get offended that easily his book (Shades of Plaid) will aggravate them, anyway. I think it’s great, but then I’m twisted, so I hear.
Enough yacking, here’s the rough draft:
I have to get back to work on a cover for someone else, now. The one with the high heel, as a matter of fact 😉
