New Photos: Thunderstorm

I should update my website instead of scheduling blog posts. Alas, I love blogging too much! I read an article recently about eliminating time drainers that do not “forward your goals” – aka the book covers or the books, I guess – and according to it things like this blog should be eliminated to save time. They’re probably right; I could do useful stuff instead of post here. But I get the enjoyment from it, so that’s worth it to me. It can’t be all work 24/7!
Anyway, there was an awesome storm that produced some pretty good photos. It took awhile to get the focus and such right, so I didn’t get as many as I would have liked, but no need to be greedy.

Makes me think of My Little Pony. I don’t know why. I bet a psychiatrist would have fun with my weird associations.
And no, I did not adjust the color/levels/curves/etc on these. They came out purple like that and I left it because it was an awesome shade.

I have terrible trouble getting night shots with my camera – they don’t look like night
as for fruthering one’s goals – if you’re not having fun what’s the point? my “must do” is so far down on my list….
Yes, I know what you mean! If they’re dark then you can;t see anything and if you brighten it up then it ends up looking like daylight. I have this trouble, too 😦
heh-heh, I have so many must do’s that are no fun… 😉 someday I will retire and abandon them all, LOL!
I have trouble with night photos and esp moon photos. I’m not sure what kind of camera I need, but I don’t have it. I love the lightening photos. Very cool!
My best moon photos are actually at twilight or early in the AM when there isn’t as much light from the moon to interfere – you actually have to use a low ISO setting with the moon or else it ends up a big blur.
I’ll have to try that. Thanks for the tip! 🙂
Great pics! The one that you say “I like this one!” is my favorite. I’ve never tried taking pics of storms before. I’ll have to give it a go and see how badly I fail lol.
I used a long shutter speed. I think I had it set for like 20 seconds – and a low ISO (otherwise with the shutter open that long I got a big white blob, LOL!) I bet you can do it 😉
Awesome pics!!!
you should have come outside with us 😉
A lightning trigger would be very helpful to capture lightning photos.
