The Craft Room

Today we worked on the craft room and it now looks like a room:

That used to be solid packed boxes and furniture.  Now we can actually get to stuff. Yay!
Memorial Day tomorrow so an early night. Have a Barbie Camper kind of day (it’s the yellow vehicle perched above everything)
Jo 😉

Spaghetti and Flowers

Lunch was so pretty that I took a photo of it.

Pastrami sandwich and cherries

I got some work done on the flower beds today including planting the new flowers,  weeding,  and mulching around the roses. I ended up just laying on the ground in order to get under them and get all the creeping Charlie. I imagine it was an amusing sight.

and then we went to a friend’s house for dinner and a movie. The movie was Dead Pool, which I enjoyed,  and, you guessed it,  the dinner was spaghetti.

It was as good as it looks.

I’d write more, but I’m tired.
Have a spaghetti and meatballs kind of day!

PS. Here’s a cute toad

Shopping Day

It was shopping Day,  which took allllllll day because we made a lot of stops. For instance we went to Gordmans where I got some jeans that actually fit (to avoid the usual horrible look of the skinny jeans they sell at Walmart I’ve been buying a size or two too big for years now).

image

Then we stopped at an Asian store seeking calpico but only got mochi.

image

And Menards where we bought tile to fix the bathroom counter top:

This is where the poly is coming off

The tile we will cover it with

Then there were a bunch of others, including several Walmarts all over omaha looking for doggy diapers for the incontinent chihuaha.
And did I mention it rained the whole time?

Not that I mind rain.
Anyway,  in other news the painter is a go. He did the official estimate and -get this- it is 2650$ which is 50$ LESS than we planned to spend doing it ourselves. It’s just the one color (which was what we planned to do) so we’ll need to paint the trim next year. My uncle didn’t approve, but honestly I don’t know how I could paint the outside, do all the inside stuff I hope to do before Christmas,  and get all my writing,  etc. etc. done, too. There are only so many hours,  sadly. Plus I was tired of trying to get hubby and the brother motivated. I love them both, but neither ever wants to work on anything (and especially not scraping) so I spend all my time cheerleading them along and it gets soul draining.
Enough of that. Here’s my poppy that bloomed.

And I leave you with what we might as well vote for in November.

Have a good one!

New phone

So I got a galaxy S7. It’s the first non Motorola phone I’ve ever owned. Of course it and  my old phone won’t play nice so copying data has been a pain but I’m almost done. Head hurts to bad to continue though,  so will finish tomorrow. Meanwhile,  enjoy photos of the plants I bought to sacrifice to my brown thumb.

Cupcakes and flowers

Yesterday was my aunt’s birthday, so we descended on her with cupcakes:

image

She had ice cream, so we had all the necessary snacks and good company, so an enjoyable visit. We need to pop down there more often, and also need to go see my other uncle more. So much to do, so little time.
Like painting this house. It needs it desperately and we’ve attempted screaming (this is an autocorrect – I meant scraping but that seemed appropriate too) but haven’t gotten far. And then we’re all scared of heights. So I broke down and am getting an estimate to have someone else do it. They gave me a rough guess of 3,000 (they’re coming Thursday for a real estimate) but if the real estimate is the same we may try to save for it because I’ve figured between paint, supplies, and equipment (like scaffolding) we’re looking at 2,700$ to do it ourselves with a whole lot of labor and terror… So the extra 300$ would be a good investment. But we’ll see what the final estimate is, as 3,000$ would be our absolute max.
In other news, flowers are blooming even better than last year. I get a huge giggle out of the rosebush at the end of the driveway because our first summer here it did nothing so I had planned to kill it. Now look at it:

image

I need to cut out the trees growing around it, I know. Anyway, here’s some more flowers:

My favorite rose isn’t doing anything because someone whom I won’t name weed whacked it. There’s an inch of stem left with some leaves, so hopefully it will come back. Ergh.
And that’s all for now. Have a cupcake kind of day!

#SaturdayScribblers PROMPT No.2

Yes, even though it’s Monday. I had hoped to do this sooner but the &^%$ computer would not cooperate and I am SICK of having to reinstall the *&^%$ tablet every time I want to use it. But, this was fun anyway.

Yes, it’s Saturday Scribblers. The idea is that they post a scribble – here is this weeks:

prompt-2 (1)

And then you incorporate that into an image – for instance I turned that scribble into the chair of an evil genius:

prompt-2

That’s his death ray satellite that he’s watching on the screen. I doodled it with my tablet and the whole thing would have taken two hours tops had the *&^% laptop cooperated.

Saturday Scribblers lasts all week, so drop in and do some scribbling.

Have an evil genius kind of day!

Chocolate donuts

We got some work done upstairs, no pics though, since it doesn’t look dramatically different. We sorted some stuff in the craft room and rearranged a little bit. Lots left to do there.
We had to stop early because tonight was Extreme Rules WWE pay per view. We have the WWE channel on roku so we don’t have to pay for it, but anyway. I was upset that Calisto lost his belt. Otherwise things went the way we thought they would until Rollins appeared at the end. Things are going to get interesting. Not that we will probably get to keep up as hubby is on a Seinfeld kick and never wants to watch the weekly shows.
I leave you with some chocolate donuts.

Have an extreme kind of day.
Or a chocolaty one.

Atlantic

Hubby and I went to Atlantic’s theatre to watch Captain America: Civil War.

image

They have a cute theater with two screens, one upstairs and one down. In my youth this would have impressed me greatly. Now I think it’s “fun” in a kitschy way. Oh, how Springfield ruined us, Lol!
Anyway, the theatre was cute.

The movie was good. To tired to do a review of it, but I enjoyed it and liked all the extra characters that are drawn in. I need to see about the new Spiderman. This kid seemed ok. I liked Toby McGuire’s but the second guy…eh. He was too cocky and smart ass and bleh. This kid didn’t seem that way.
Anyway, movie. As I said, good. Lots of fights and effects, which is what I paid to see, and I still love the clashing personalities of the heroes interacting. Good times. I’m interested to see where it all goes from here. In the meantime, I’m going to bed.
And just so you feel you completely wasted time by reading this…

Good luck.
Nighty night!

The TTC

It’s Turtle Thursday – well, Friday, I guess – meaning my big accomplishment for the day was to draw the newest page for the Terrible Turtle Conspiracy Web Comic, written by Jonathan Harvey and, obviously, doodled by me. Normally I draw them on graph paper, trace them in pen, scan them, and then color and do all the text work, etc. Tonight I did it all on the computer using my tablet. The page isn’t officially released until six a.m. but here it is early just for you.

Page Eight

Snazzy, huh? The other thing I have been doing is editing Ethne the paper doll’s files. I have decided to use a colored outline on her as opposed to the black I have been using, so I am color replacing the lines – luckily I have all the layer files so this is easy, just time consuming.

before and after

I think the color looks more professional.

What do you think?

Have a colored lines kinda day!

Jo 🙂

Un-Go

Un-Go is an anime that the brother and I finished tonight. I enjoyed it and wish there was more than twelve episodes and one OVA. The story is a young man who inadvertantly wakes a Shiki (demon type thing) that feeds on souls. After a lengthy and semi-confusing OVA that took me a couple of viewings since I was going in blind with no synopsis, the young man becomes a detective with the Shiki (named Inga) at his side. Inga has a very handy ability in that he/she can ask each person one question, and the person is compelled to answer truthfully. Far from being a fix all though, the detective usually has the case locked in before he lets Inga ask her question. Most of the episodes are individual cases, with the last three as a single case. After I got the feel for the mystery style, I did pretty good at guessing, but the first couple I was terrible at, Lol!
We’ve started Hozuki, which is a comedy about hell and is quite amusing.
And now I go to bed. Have a musical demon kind of day!
Jo 🙂
