A Year…Part 3

Ooooooo. We’re almost caught up with the last year of my not blogging! After we got the roof done, we also hired someone to paint the top half of the house:
Then we decorated for Halloween. I finally used some of those free molds we got when we first moved here:
In fact, we went all out for Halloween. We painted a snow fence black for the graveyard, and hubby designed and 3d printed the tops for the corner posts. We had a trellis for the archway, but a bad windstorm bent it up so bad that we won’t be able to use it again (it did last through the holiday) and since we had tons of gourd vines, we cleaned them out and hung them all over the cemetery. We also made the cage with the skeleton rat, set up a Ring-esque well, and set up Noah Body’s funeral. There was a guardian in the cemetery, but he only got to be out one night before he had to be moved around to the side of the house because the wind was so bad. Oh, and we had snow, but luckily it melted off by Halloween. Yeah, those decorations held up well considering the crazy weather!
We didn’t have nearly as many trick or treaters as usual, but I think a lot of it was that Villisca always has theirs on Halloween, while surrounding towns often have it on different days, so we’ll get kids from all the other towns who are getting two nights of trick or treating, but everyone had it on Halloween this year. However, we still had a fun family party.
Then, in a not so fun thing, we said goodbye to Mel’s mom, Marilee. I’m not going to say a lot about it, because I’m still pretty angry at the medical world.
Then in November, what seemed like an unimportant spur of the moment picnic turned out to be the last picnic we would ever have with Mom.
Okay, I guess I lied. I’m going to have to do a part 4.
Have a sunset picnic kinda day.
