Went to the eye doctor today and picked out new glasses. She dilated my eyes and they are just finally to where I can read my phone. Holy batsnitch. No idea why it lasted so long on me. Wonder if Sjogrens affects it?
Anyway, don’t have the glasses yet but these are the frames.
Hubby hates them but he always hates my choices, so that’s ok.
Have a cute glasses kinda day!
Not much to share today. The bro had his infusion, paperwork got completed, life is rolling along like it always does. Someday there will be spare time. Maybe.
Since I didn’t do anything fit for public consumption, thought I’d share something interesting I ran into. Paul Durham of the (American) band Black Lab is putting out a solo album (there was a kickstarter. Now there’s that other thing. I should find the link to it. – found it. It’s Indie go go ) Of course, I’m down for that (gotta get that signed CD), and that comes with membership in the secret group…anyway I’ve been listening to Black Lab lately (mixed with Soul Asylum because, why not?), which led to a discussion with the bro about why they came up with that name. So I did a google search, but instead of finding the answer I found another band also named BlackLab (without the space). And though the names are pretty much the same (and if you believe wikipedia and bandcamp they came from the same place – a combination of Black Sabbath and Stereolab. which I find hard to believe that BOTH bands named themselves that after the exact same reason*), their music is nothing alike. Black Lab is alternative, while BlackLab calls themselves the dark witch doom duo.
Basically they are two Japanese women playing black metal, and honestly they’re pretty good. At least I’m enjoying their album Abyss. It’s an odd break from what I’ve been listening to, but it’s definitely fun. You should give it a listen.
Not much else to share that anyone wants or needs to hear about. I have a pile of work I need to do; some beta editing, a couple of covers, but I need more than five minutes on the laptop to get it done. As one of my friends says, “My life is just unmanageable at the moment”. LOL!
Have a dark witch doom kinda night!

If you thought yesterday was a waste, today was even more so in terms of anything to say. Just did work all day and played fetch with my cat, John Jones. She is a strange little thing and she literally plays fetch with Q-tips. You toss it, she runs, grabs it, and brings it back. She did this for about half an hour tonight before I think she lost it. And yes, it is a girl cat named John Jones. I could tell you why, but then you’d think I was morbid, so… (hint: When she was a litten she liked to crawl into small spaces. Now Google the name.)
But here are some random photos of JJ not playing fetch.
Isn’t she cute??
Have a fetching kitty kinda day!
Nothing interesting to say. Finished the Heaven’s Design Team anime the other day and need to find a new one. Also finished the K drama Romance is a Bonus Book. It was really good. Now it’s Amy’s turn to pick the next one, lol!
We finished Cobra Kai the other day – gosh I love that show. I didn’t think I would, wasn’t interested in it at all, but then hubby duped me into watching ir and it’s great! I love the character development in it and how even the “bad” guys get their moment to say, “hey, I don’t think I’m bad.” Because no one is a villain in their own story, and that’s a hard concept to pull off well, but they manage it.
Wow. Sounds like all I’ve been doing is watching TV. I wish! Got some book covers done. One set I really like.
Not that I don’t like others, but you know. Also been working on the gender swap and did some beta reading. And we got Christmas taken down, now I just need to deep clean and start painting ceiling tiles for the craft room.
Anyway, plenty to do, so I’m outta here.
Have a character development kinda day!
Meant to post this last night but didn’t get that far. That’s ok.
As I mentioned, we did get some snow. I actually went out in it Sunday and it was a lovely day so, photos! Most are Villisca but there are a couple in Red Oak as well.
And then there are some night photos
And finally, for fun, I did a comparison using the “photo” setting vs the “night” setting. The difference is quite interesting. If this posts correctly, photo should be on the left and night on the right.
And that’s what I have. I leave you for my bed and sleepy time.
Have an atmospheric photo kinda day
Our winter weather arrived….though it took its sweet time. They said 9 am. Here was the world at 1pm.
And here it is at 1 am
No snowpocalypse by any means, but at least there is snow. It always fascinates me the difference snow makes on the landscape. It completely transforms it, like cold, icy magic.
Now off to watch the last Cobra Kai episode.
Have a snowy magic day
Not much was accomplished today. It happens. They say we’re supposed to get snow tomorrow (Friday) but I’m not holding my breath. They’re usually wrong. This has been a very dry winter so far.
Tried making the red pop like it did in person but it took away the toneless gray of the rest of the sky. Just used Light Room on the phone so not like I did a lot of work on it.
That’s the original which doesn’t look like it did in reality, either. Oh well.
Off to bed. Night!
Have a wintery day!
We had a couple of our Japanese snacks today, so that was fun. First was something my translation app called Speedy Turtle
They are apparantly mirin flavored, which is a sweet saki. They tasted a bit like a sweet corn puff and were really good. If these were available in vending machines here, I’d buy them.
The second were curry flavored straws.
These were not as good to me because they have that kind of scorched corn flavor that fritos have. My bro liked them, but then he also likes fritos. They were not spicy, btw, despite the curry flavoring.
We also finally got a chance tonight to play the game we got for Christmas, Betrayal at House on the Hill.
The premise is that you and your friends are for some reason exploring a spooky abandoned house. Similar to Death Maze, you choose rooms at random and build the map as you explore. As you play, you uncover items and have to do what is known as a haunt roll. Eventually the right roll leads to the beginning of the haunt scenario, which is when things change.
There are fifty (!) haunt scenarios in the little booklets. When the haunt is triggered, one of you becomes a traitor and the rest become the heros. The goals for the traitor or heros to win change be pending on the haunt scenario, as does the game play. For instance in the one we got, it turns out that I (the traitor) have brought everyone to this house so that an Astral spirit can steal one of their bodies and/or consume their souls. When the haunt scenario began, the bro and dad’s characters fall over unconscious and can not be moved anymore, instead they got these little soul tiles that they got to move. As the traitor, I was unaffected, so I could still move around, and I also was in charge of playing the Astral spirit. I won’t give away much more, but I will say I won. A quick look through the playing pieces shows that there are haunts with various monsters like zombies and witches, and the rule book mentions there are also haunts with secret traitors. So, it has a lot of replay value, and even if you have played all fifty scenarios, you could replay them with different strategies.
Anyway, it was a lot of fun. Hubby is home, so time for an episode of Cobra Kai and then bed.
Have a speedy turtle snack kinda day!
Lemon blueberry was the scent of the pandemic. Tropical Mango was the smell of my mother’s death. Exotic Bloom has been the twilight time after. It’s a new year, and time to get back to life. But will it smell like Margarita Citron or Candy Cane?
I guess we’ll see.
Have a good one
At last, the correct lyrics to the album Horse They Rode in On. I’ve waited most of my life for this. Ha ha!!
Seriously though, I rarely read nonfiction but am excited for this as there’s lots of little tidbits and such along with all the lyrics.
Hope everyone had a great new year. I’m sick at the moment so been outta things. Bleh.
Have a lyrics to your favorite songs kinda day!
