Fog and Lights

Cast your mind back to December when, on a cold, foggy night, two round little people went for a walk with their camera. A sheriff stopped to make sure they were alright, and lots of creepy cows mooed in the distance. A couple of cars drove past and finally the pair arrived home cold, damp, and achy, but with a handful of usable pictures.  These are those pictures.

.

What, oh what, will tomorrow bring? Christmas photos? Something a little more spring-y? OooOOooooOOoooo! The suspense!

Random Wintery Photos

I’ve been thinking about redoing my random photos banner but I don’t know. This one has served me well since my MySpace days, so maybe not.

Anyway, it’s just what the title says. More random photos, mainly from my cellphone, and most are wintery. Not much going on. I – hopefully – have the synopsis done for the upcoming book release and I have started the intro flash fiction to go with the character reveals (need to finish that soon). I am considering a blog tour but not now. There’s just too much going on. Someone sent me a link for a lady who sets them up for $150 and I am considering it for this summer (though she has to “approve” you after she reads your book, so no guarantees ). I know it’s possible to do them yourself, I did a small one last year but they are so time consuming to set them up I might be willing to pay for it. I don;t know. It’s all still just an idea.

On a more personal note things are still dragging along. I feel like a ghoul, but, well… there just comes a point.

Okay, on to the photos!

And that’s it for now. If you have some wacky winter weather feel free to post a link to photos – I love looking at photos 🙂

Photos – Abandoned

So, I picked. It’s Bedlren and Zuri. A bit of overkill, but I think it will help with a later plot point. And now for the second photo blog I promised.

There’s a funny story behind this. Let’s just say we didn’t have much time in this particular venue because a report came over the scanner of suspicious people. *cough* ‘Nuff said.

New Photos: Thunderstorm

I should update my website instead of scheduling blog posts. Alas, I love blogging too much! I read an article recently about eliminating time drainers that do not “forward your goals” – aka the book covers or the books, I guess – and according to it things like this blog should be eliminated to save time. They’re probably right; I could do useful stuff instead of post here. But I get the enjoyment from it, so that’s worth it to me. It can’t be all work 24/7!

Anyway, there was an awesome storm that produced some pretty good photos. It took awhile to get the focus and such right, so I didn’t get as many as I would have liked, but no need to be greedy.

Makes me think of My Little Pony. I don’t know why. I bet a psychiatrist would have fun with my weird associations.

And no, I did not adjust the color/levels/curves/etc on these. They came out purple like that and I left it because it was an awesome shade.

The first shot at the wraparound

I managed to squish some time in today to work on the rough draft of my wraparound. If you’d like to read the blurb and/or leave some feedback on it, you can do that on my author blog.  You’ll notice there’s a big black box that’s empty. I decided to go out on a limb this time and solicit some blurbs before it was published. Okay, I got lucky and a couple of people offered. Who am I kidding? Ruth Ann Nordin was ind enough to let me use a blurb from her review of Shades of Gray on the last book, and then I used a quote from Daniel Kennedy. He just has a very “weighty” sounding name – like he;s someone important. Or is that just me?  I thought about hitting Jonathan up for one, but 1) he hasn’t finished the second book yet, so book 3 isn’t going to happen for awhile and 2) I thought it might conflict with his genre a little.  Some people might frown on a devotional written by a guy who’s being quoted all over vampire books. Though if they get offended that easily his book (Shades of Plaid) will aggravate them, anyway. I think it’s great, but then I’m twisted, so I hear.

Enough yacking, here’s the rough draft:

I have to get back to work on a cover for someone else, now. The one with the high heel, as a matter of fact 😉

Walk With Me

(originally from March 2008)

I admit, this is inspired by a misheard lyric :p But it was such a cool lyric that when I discovered it was *not* used I had to do something with it, so here it is! (There’s a poetry challenge idea… write a poem off of your favorite misheard lyric, LOL!)

Walk With Me

Darkness wraps itself around you
Makes your fears and nightmares come true
In the shadows, can you feel me?
Creeping closer ’til you can see
So you stand amazed
You can not believe
I slowly smile
And you fall down on your knees
In my casket lay
All our hopes and dreams
Now resurrected
Why is it that you scream?

 Drowning in your own confusion
Your questions rising in profusion
All the prayers you cried have come true
From the grave returned to find you
And your tears they fall
Landing on the floor
Your trembling fingers
Reaching for my face once more
Whispered words of praise
Slip softly from your lips
All your desire
Burning in your unspoken kiss

Against the night I’ll raise my voice
At your feet I lay this choice
The world of death beyond this portal
Will you dance with an immortal?
Lie in your grave with me
You can’t look away
I’ll taste you’re life
Save you from life’s slow decay
Intertwined we’ll be
For eternity
Just take my hand
And walk into the night with me

Vampire Art

(originally from December 2007)

These were commissioned (oooh! big fancy artist word for someone-said-“hey-draw-me-a-piture-please!”) * misspelling intentional* by my good friend Carolyn. The characters are hers from a story I hope she will some day finish *cough*cough*

Of course, I made line art versions too…..
